About this site
This web page is the
product of a person whose mind was abducted by an alien force which
manifested itself in the form of a home built computer in 1978.
This electronic creature immediately took on a dominant role in our
continuing relationship. It demanded software! You
couldn't buy software so I was forced to write it myself to moderate
it's aggressive personality. Then it was floppy drives,
printers, memory and other I/O devices. Every time I
established some sort of control on this Avatar like thing it
would mutate into a new generation. Each generation smarter
and more aggressive than the last. There demands
increased...color monitors, faster processors, more memory, larger
storage devices. They were no longer satisfied with the level
of software I could produce. Outside software had to be
obtained. Not only was this costly, but their appetite for
more complex software continued to increase.
By the end of the
1980's, I could no longer keep up with the needs of this home
based alien colony. They began to migrate into the
neighborhood, across Cities, across the Nation and eventually around
the world. They continued to mutate in to smaller more
potent aggressors. They adapted their methodology so they
could infest the minds of the common non technical segments of the
population. They have compromised the minds of everyone from
senior citizen down to the youngest of our human kind. They
have been able to train the children of the world to be smarter than
their elders and to aid and abet in the total take over of the
world.
As for me, I am no
longer the focus of their on-going movement. I am able to do
more things that I want to do. But life will never be the
same. Where I used to get great pleasure from ham radio, it
has been replaced by video editing and movie making on a computer.
One of my greatest enjoyments was solving crossword puzzles and
putting together jig saw puzzles. That has been replaced by
building web servers and developing web pages.
Then again, maybe
things are not as described. Perhaps this is all little more
than a hobby. After all, a hobby requires a tremendous amount
of time, effort and resources. And a hobby requires continuing
financial investment. And finally, a hobby seldom offers back
any financial or tangible reward for ones effort !
But, I still cannot
help but think that computers may well be an alien life form with a
purpose still to be defined. There is no doubt they are
imbedded in the minds of the masses. |
